Organization: Union Baptist Head Start, a Maryland State Department of Education Accredited program, is in its forty-ninth year of operation in the Upton Community and seeks a Lead Teacher for its MSDE funded Pre-K Expansion classroom to teach, develop, and nurture Head Start 3 and 4-year old in a community-based setting. He/she will work in an integrated fashion with the Education Team, Family Services Team, Education Consultant, Nutrition staff, families, and community partners to deliver exceptional comprehensive services
to meet the educational and developmental needs of enrolled children.

Responsibilities: Demonstrate an understanding of early childhood education and apply best practice for preschool children. Effectively implementation of our preferred preschool curriculum and curriculum supplements. Develop age appropriate lesson plans which scaffold learning for groups and individual children. Document and provide assessments for students. Comply with federal and state mandates for child health and safety regulations. Partner with
parents as advocates for their children, work collaboratively with fellow teachers, Family Service Coordinators, parents and other community partners, support all staff and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a P-3 Maryland State Certification for teaching in Early Childhood Education (Must have passed Praxis exam). This position requires a creative and flexible team player with verbal and written communication competence, excellent interpersonal skills, computer proficiency, an ability to work independently, demonstrated initiative, an aptitude for problem-solving, and a willingness to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings. The successful
candidate will possess high energy, enthusiasm, and a love for children and families.
Compensation:
Salary range of $52,500.00-59,000.00. Benefits package including health, vision & dental, life insurance, 403 B retirement program and paid leave.
